Meet Mollie Meserve
Since 2007, Mollie Ann Meserve has been the lead designer for Rough Magic Creations, developing a line of unique handcrafted jewelry for women and men of discerning taste and independent spirit.
Calling upon a background in theatre and fine arts, and working with copper, sterling silver, gemstones, freshwater pearls, Czech glass and other fine components, Mollie brings a dramatic theatricality to her creations, most of them one of a kind designs.A native Texan, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre and drama from the University of Texas at Dallas and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Indiana University.
For 30+ years Mollie worked side by side with her husband Joe, a Maine native and former professor of dramatic literature, in their studio-cum-workshop overlooking Blue Hill Bay on the rock bound coast of Down East Maine. After managing their theatre related publishing company, the Meserves turned to new careers as designer-handcrafters as well as sellers of vintage books and collectible memorabilia and home decor.
Their original designs have sold globally through online venues and in brick and mortar galleries throughout Maine. In addition to designing and handcrafting jewelry, Mollie has received four national awards for her original stage plays and has co-authored, designed and illustrated a number of books on the performing arts.
Following Joe's death in 2023, Mollie is now in the process of reopening their shop, getting back to her workbench, preparing new jewelry designs and cataloguing her large private library of books, both vintage and recently published.
She welcomes requests for bespoke designs and will work closely with you in the process of bringing your dreams to life - realities in wearable art.
